When I told my mom that I was going to go to an ugly sweater party, she asked me what happened at these ugly sweater parties. I thought that this question would have a fairly straightforward answer, but I couldn't think of an answer for her.
My mom's question got me thinking: what really happens at an ugly sweater?
Possible activities:
-Sip hot chocolate/eat cookies
-Check out other people's ugly sweaters
-Ugly sweater fashion show
-White elephant gift exchange
-Pull on a loose thread of someone's ugly sweater and see how far you can unravel it without anyone noticing...

I'm not sure what else happens. I've been to several now, and I'm still pretty clueless. They seem pretty much like any other party I've been to, just with uglier attire.
